Dragon Palace Cave Scenic Spot |
Dragon Palace (Long Gong), 27 kilometers (17 miles) southwest of Anshun City en route to Huangguoshu Waterfall, is a Guizhou provincial scenic spot. It is a wonderland of underground karst caves in cluster.
Dragon Palace Cave Scenic Spot includes 60 square kilometers of karst caves, waterfalls, and underground streams. The Dragon Palace, the Rape (You Cai) Lake, the Whirlpool and the Leech Pass are all in this territory.
The Dragon Palace, 15 kilometers (9 miles) in length, is the prime attraction. It is the longest karst river cave in China. The Guest-Welcoming Cave, the Dragon Gate Flying Waterfall, the Heavenly Lake, the Clamshell Rock and the Crystal Palace are its components.
Legend has it that the Dragon King resides in the Crystal Palace. Hence people named the place after the Dragon. The Heavenly Lake is at the head of the water, which forms an underground waterfall at the Dragon Gate. This 34 meters(112 feet)high and 25 meters(82 feet)wide Dragon Gate Flying Waterfall is the longest cave waterfall in the country.
A boat ride takes you into the 5000 meters(16,404 feet)of Underground River, where you see stalactites, landscape frescoes, Crystal Palace, and the entire site illuminated in colors of solemn mystery.
The Sancha River, the Stone Forest Park and the Buyi Village are other enjoyable places to visit in the neighborhood.
